Why Is My Alcatel Hotspot Not Working?
Several issues can cause your Alcatel hotspot to stop working. Some of the common reasons include the following:
. Data Limit
There is a limit to the amount of data you get when you subscribe to any of Alcatel’s data plans. It could be that you’ve exceeded the data allowance for your plan. If you notice that your Alcatel hotspot is not working, one of the first things to check is for data balance. We will outline how to check your data balance in the latter part of this post.
. Network and Service Issue
Also, it could be a network outage issue in your area. Also, it could be that there is a low network signal. To confirm this, check the network indicator on your device. The network indicator must have at least two bars in your current location.
Minor Bugs On Device
The error could be caused by minor bugs on your device or your smartphone. Minor troubleshooting can fix the issue.
How To Fix the Alcatel Hotspot Not Working Issue?
. Check For Network Coverage
First, ensure there is T-Mobile coverage in your area. The network indicator on your device must show at least 2 bars of signal to enable you to use the Alcatel hotspot.
. Enable Wi-Fi On Your Phone
As basic as this advice is, some people forgot to enable the Wi-Fi feature in mobile devices.
To turn on Wi-Fi on an Android phone, simply tap on the ‘Settings’ icon. Scroll down to ‘Wireless & Networks’ and toggle the ‘ON’ option besides the ‘Wi-Fi’ option. You will find a list of wireless networks within range. Select your home network’s name, enter the ‘Password’, and tap on ‘Connect’.
Also, ensure you turn on the Hotspot feature on the connecting device.
. Check Your Data Balance
If there is network coverage and Wi-Fi is enabled on the device you want to connect to the wireless network. If you are still getting the error message, it’s time to check your data balance. To check the data balance, follow the steps below.
- Go to the Admin page
- Enter your username/ email and password.
- Click on the ‘Information’ tab
- Select ‘Statics’
- You will see details of your total data consumption and data balance.
. Restart Device and Phone
The next option is to restart both your connecting device and your mobile phone. Restarting the devices will troubleshoot and fix minor bugs.
. Restart Device Location
If the Alcatel wireless network keeps disconnecting, you can change the location of the connecting device. It could be that the distance from the connecting device to your mobile phone is far.
Also, it could be that there is a device emitting electromagnetic (EMF) near the device. EM blocks network signals. Examples of such devices include a baby monitor, copy machines, treadmills, surveillance cameras, and similar devices.
Make sure your mobile phone is held within 15 feet of the connecting device.
. Update Firmware On Device
Make sure the firmware on both your mobile phone and the connecting device is up-to-date. To update the firmware in your smartphone, follow the steps below:
- Ensure your phone is connected to a wireless network.
- Select on ‘Settings’
- Tap on ‘About Phone’
- If there are firmware updates available, you will see the ‘Update’ option.
- Select ‘Install System Software’. It may appear as ‘Install Now, Reboot and Install’ on some smartphones.
. Re-add Wi-Fi Profile On Device
Another tip is to delete your device’s Wi-Fi name and profile from the connecting device and re-add the profile.
. Contact Support Center
If you’ve tried all the tips outlined earlier and your Alcatel hotspot won’t work, the final option is to contact their support center. It could be that it is a general issue. The tech support should be able to help you fix the issue in no time. Call Alcatel customer support via 1-877-746-0909.
