7 Tips To Fix Frontier Wifi Not Working

Frontier Communication is an Internet Service Provider with network coverage in over 25 states in the United States. Besides their internet service, Frontier also offers phone, and cable TV services.

Some of the Frontier services come as a subscription package. This means that in a package, you can get both the internet, and cable tv service.

Frontier introduced the FiberOptic service recently that offers high-speed internet to enable users to enjoy a seamless streaming experience. Despite their high-speed internet and large coverage, some subscribers have complained about having issues with the internet from time to time.

If you are using a Frontier modem and you can’t connect a wireless device to the network, this post is for you. In this post, you will understand why your Frontier Wi-Fi is not working. Also, you will find tips you can apply to fix the issue and get your wireless network working in no time.

Why Is Frontier Wi-Fi Not Working?

There are several reasons why your Frontier wireless network is not working. But these are some common issues to look out for:

a. Network Outage

It could be that there is a temporary network outage in your location. If the Company is carrying out its routine maintenance in an area, subscribers in the area may experience a temporary service outage. The outage can be a result of a technical issue on the Frontier’s end.

If there is scheduled maintenance, you will most likely receive a scheduled maintenance alert from Frontier. Also, you can check on their website. You will find out how to later on in this post.

b. Issue With Cables and Connectors

Also, it could be that one or more of the cables and connectors connected to your device is damaged.

c. Outdated Firmware

Firmware is the software that powers the hardware of your device. Frontier does release Firmware updates regularly with better features. If your modem’s firmware is outdated, it can affect the functionality of the device.

d. Issue With Wireless Device

Finally, it could be that the wireless device you are trying to connect to the Frontier network is in airplane mode or that the Wi-Fi settings are not enabled.

Tips To Fix Frontier Wi-Fi Not Working?

a. Check For Service Outage

If you are having issues connecting to your Frontier network, the first step is to check for network outages in your location. Frontier may send you an alert if they are having routine maintenance in your area.

If there is a service outage in your location, you have to wait it out. If not, proceed to the tips below to fix the issue.

b. Check Wireless Device

Check the wireless device you are trying to connect to your Frontier wireless and ensure the device is not in airplane mode. Also, make sure the Wi-Fi icon is on.

c. Power Cycle Your Device

Power Cycle has to do with restarting your router. The process helps to fix temporary errors or bugs on your device. To power cycle, your Frontier router, press the ‘Power’ button on your router. Wait for one minute and turn the device on again. Allow the device to boot.

Another way to power cycle your device is to remove the power cord on your router. Wait for 30 seconds, plug back the power cord and allow the device to reboot.

Note that the power cycle process does not affect your prior settings.

d. Update Device Firmware

To update your router firmware, follow the process below:

. Select ‘Advanced’ from the menu bar options.

. Select ‘Firmware’ from the new menu.

. Click the ‘Upgrade from the internet’ option.

. On the confirmation page, select ‘OK’ to commence.

e. Check Cable Connections

Check the modem and make sure the power cord is plugged in on both ends. Also, check the cable and connector wires for damages. If any of the cables or wire is damaged, buy a new cable to replace the damaged one.

f. Factory Reset Your Device

The factory reset should be done only when it’s necessary. This is because factory reset deletes are the settings saved on your device. This means that you have to set up your device after the factory reset.
