RCN is an Internet Service Provider that also offers TV and phone services. When you subscribe to any RCN service, you get equipment. Most times, the equipment is sent based on a lease contract. You pay a small fee monthly to continue using the equipment.

It is more expensive to outrightly purchase the equipment, so most people opt to maintain a lease contract. This means that when you cancel your RCN subscription or service, you are expected to return the equipment to RCN.

When Do You Need To Return RCN Equipment?

Several instances require you to return RCN equipment shipped to you. They include:

a. When You Cancel Your Subscription

When you sign up for any of the RCN subscription packages, you receive some equipment on lease. You are required to return the equipment when you cancel your subscription or fail to renew your service.

b. Defect On New Device

If you notice a defect in a new RCN equipment, you can return the equipment. RCN will either send you new equipment to replace the damaged ones or refund your money. You must return a damaged product within 30 days of the purchase date.

C. Upgrade/ Downgrade Your Plan

When you upgrade your subscription, your current equipment may not have the features to support the update. You have to return your old equipment. RCN will share equipment with features to support your new plan. The same applies to when you downgrade your plan.

How To Return Equipment To RCN

a. Disconnect Your Service

The first step is to discontinue your RCN subscription. Contact RCN customer support via 1-800-746-4726 to disconnect your service. After that, do a factory reset on the device.

b. Prepare The Equipment For Shipping

Disconnect the cables, wires, and connectors attached to the device. Pack the equipment into a shipping box. Remember to include all the accessories attached to the equipment in the shipping box. Also, it is advisable to use Bubble wrap (Buy on Amazon)to add an extra layer of protection to the equipment.

c. Prepare and Print Label

If you intend to return the equipment via FedEx shipping, you need a prepaid FedEx shipping label. Contact RCN to send the prepaid shipping label to you. Or, visit their site, fill in the required information and submit. Print the label from your email address and attach it to your shipping box.

d. Drop Off Box For Shipping

The final step is to drop off the equipment. There are two methods available to return equipment. The first option is to visit any RCN office in your area. Go through the list of drop-off locations below. Find a location in your area, visit the location and drop off the equipment.

The second option is to ship the product back via FedEx. To ship via FedEx, attach the prepaid shipping label to the equipment box and take the box to any FedEx drop-off locations near you. Use this Map to find a FedEx drop off location in your area.

How Long Do You Have To Return RCN Equipment? (RCN Return Policy)

The time you have to return RCN equipment depends on the circumstance. For defective RCN equipment, you have to return it within 30 days from the day of purchase to return the equipment for refunds. For cancellation, it is advisable to return the equipment no later than 14 days from the day you cancel your service.

What Happens If You Don’t Return Your RCN Equipment
